Boy Scout Troop 589 Enjoys a Hog Roast Picnic

Nearly 100 scouts, their family members, and adult leaders were in attendance as the Chaska Boy Scout Troop 589 launched its scouting year on Sunday, September 11 with a “Welcome Back” picnic at Lake Grace.

In addition to an official “retiring” of an American Flag by the Scout Troop, the picnic also featured a pig roast sponsored by the Jonathan Association which is the sponsoring charter organization for Troop 589. The event provided Jonathan Board members with the opportunity to recognize the following Scouts, Parents, Adult Leaders, and Volunteers as recipients of the Jonathan Seedling Award, which was presented in recognition of their volunteer service during the 2010 Fall Spring Cleanup Day and Fall Cleanup Day in Jonathan.
